How well do these run at mileage that high?

It's in Austin, I'm sure some hipster will pick it up soon.

He says he replaced the tranny and t-case, had the block stripped down, and replaced all rubber with new stuff. So I'd imagine, it probably runs great. These are fairly reliable engines, from everything I've heard.

Yeah, it won't last long.

I give it two weeks before there's a handful of empty PBRs and a Pall Mall box in the back seat.

E30s in general run well over that just fine - my RWD 325i is currently at 280k and just had its engine replaced (developed a rod knock). Not sure about potential issues with the AWD system.

I get that these cars are rare, but outside of that I would honestly much prefer a RWD car - these AWD systems are pretty primitive at best I would imagine, plus having a RWD car is a huge part of the BMW experience...especially if you're not in a snowy climate. Plus much cheaper and easier to find with a manual.

Maybe there will still be some good DDs around when I'm looming for my next car then. Thanks for the tip.

Plenty of donor cars out there, and parts can be cheap and plentiful (esp if buying used) - and huge online community for any DIY questions. Prices are creeping up and very hard to find a clean car, so might want to start looking soon!

I know, that's what I'm afraid of. Unfortunately, I don't think it'd be possible for me to buy for at least two years, probably closer to 3 or 4. Sometimes being a college student is lame : /

Guess I'll start learning to love the E36
